San Diego Mormon Temple with Jen & Rhett

On November 22, Jen & Rhett were married at the La Jolla “Castle” in San Diego. This was an awesome day for three reasons:

1) Jen & Rhett are sweet, totally in love, and gorgeous!

2) We got 2 hours(!) to shoot portraits on the temple grounds – talk about a photographer’s dream

3) It was my birthday and I got to do what I love most all day – photograph beautiful, happy people with my best friend and husband, Shane!!!

After the portrait session with perfect blue skies and 80 degree weather (gotta love San Diego!) we accompanied the family out to Palm Springs for an intimate back yard ring ceremony and reception. Here are some of our favorite images from the day:

Trash the Dress with Jamie & B

A few weeks ago, we received an email from an amazing young bride that brought tears to our eyes. Jamie was married to the love of her life 6 1/2 years ago with the hope of a fairy tale wedding and happily ever after. Not long after the wedding, she became pregnant with baby Brianna and felt that her perfect future was coming true.

Then began the toughest years of her life. Her husband was called away for two tours in Iraq and baby B was born without a dad at home. Living in a new town without family and friends, Jamie worked hard to stay positive and raise her little girl with joy. With her husband still away, Jamie was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a partial mastectomy. Then, this past summer she miscarried her second child and fell into a deep depression.

The past 6 months have been extremely challenging for the whole family and Jamie has been searching for ways to honor the struggle she has been through and also find the inspiration to move forward.

When she contacted us, she said that she kept envisioning herself running into the ocean, barefoot and radiant in her wedding gown. She wanted to celebrate her strength and perseverance, and also create a fresh image of herself as a wife, mother, and young woman.

The resulting images are from our ocean Trash the Dress shoot. Jamie and B were amazing subjects, and I think her strength and joy burst through in the photos. I especially loved when they threw themselves on the sand and began making sand angels!

Thank you, Jamie!!!!
