Flatirons Engagement Session in Boulder, Colorado
One of the most universally recognizable places in Colorado is Chautauqua Park in Boulder. The huge granite slabs of the Flatirons rise majestically into the sky, an awe-inspiring scene that has helped make Boulder famous for its rugged outdoor beauty. We always like shooting here, and especially love the challenge of creating unique images in a place that has been photographed so extensively by droves of photographers over the years.
Eric and Sunshine are so cute and wonderful to work with. They are a lot of fun to be around, and it definitely does help that they are also incredibly good looking! They pretty much just made it easy for us.
As the sun set, we drove up the road to the Lost Gulch Overlook, where coincidentally, I proposed to Jen seven years ago! Eric really cracked me up when, upon hearing this, he grabbed my camera an insisted on taking a picture of US there. Like I said, these guys are awesome.
We hope you enjoy these images, because they are some of our favorites of the year.

A Beautiful day in Boulder, CO
Winter weddings in Colorado are in one word: unpredictable! More than any other time of year, it is nearly impossible to plan for the weather you want. So Shane and I were a little unsure of what to expect when we flew to Boulder 3 weeks ago for Sue and JP’s wedding. Parkas, scarves, long underwear, and gloves were thrown into our suitcase in preparation. When you’ve been enjoying beach weather in sunny San Diego, the prospect of anything below 60 degrees seems downright arctic :)
We flew into Denver Friday morning with nothing worse than a bit of bumpy turbulence. The wind was blowing hard, but the skies were clear and promising. After a gorgeous, if blustery day, while driving to dinner with friends, the most perfect little snow flakes began to fall on the windshield. Ahh welcome back to Colorado!
The next morning we awoke to bright blue skies and only a dusting of snow. By the time we met Sue and JP at the St Julien Hotel to begin shooting, the weather was warm enough to forgo a jacket and the snow had completely vanished.
I want to thank these two for not only planning an amazing wedding – stylish and quintessential Boulder – but also for being incredibly laid back, fun, and a joy to work with. They even withstood the cold for us a the sun went down at Chautauqua Park. Please enjoy some of our favorite images from the day!

Special thanks to the incredible vendors who made this wedding special: John Tobey with Eventureco.com, St Julien Hotel, Rembrandt Yard, Greens Point Catering, D Bar Desserts, and A Music Plus.
